NTT DATA and ‘The Open’ 2019

We were delighted to once again oversee the end-to-end delivery of NTT DATA’s sponsorship of ‘The Open’ Championship, for a seventh straight year.

The iconic 15m long NTT DATA LED ‘Wall’ once again occupied centre-stage in the heart of the Spectator Village, entertaining fans and bringing the tournament to life through 3-D data visualisations (synchronised with the live TV broadcast). This year we also integrated a world-first ‘AI’ technology that analysed and ranked the emotional reaction of spectators (in front of The ‘Wall’) to the ‘live’ action, and displayed the results on screen as well creating a video highlights reel based on the results.

We were also tasked once again to design, produce and mange NTT DATA’s double-decker VIP hospitality suite. The NTT DATA ‘pavilion’ hosted 200 VIP guests over the four Championship days and this year included a ‘mini’ (5m) synchronised replica of ‘The Wall’ for guests to enjoy in the comfortable surroundings of the hospitality unit. Over the course of the four days, guests received: surprise guest-appearance by golf legend, Tom Watson; Q&A session with past Open champion Darren Clarke and renown caddie, Billy Foster, hosted by BBC golf anchor, Andrew Cotter; daily ‘Inside The Wall’ presentations; champagne reception and 3-course dinner hosted by NTT DATA global CEO; and of course, this year’s ‘tech showcase, showing to guests the latest NTT DATA innovations.
